About University

Isfahan University of Medical Sciences was founded in 1946, as an institution of higher education in the field of medicine. IUMS is located on a 400-hectare campus adjacent to the University of Isfahan in the southwestern corner of the City of Isfahan. . Hence, the University enjoys a panoramic view of the city. Faculty buildings with an overall area of about 102,000 square meters are located among the spectacularly landscaped green areas of the university campus, some of which with historical and architectural value.

Isfahan University of Medical Sciences has been recognized by several international organizations, including PMC and WHO. The university boasts a large number of Asian students enrolled in medical school and counts among the top recognized medical schools in Iran.

Auditorium, recreational centers, a cafeteria, computer labs, laboratories, and hospital facilities are all available on-campus. Well-accommodated hostel rooms with all the basic arrangements of living.

About City:

Eṣfahān, also spelled Isfahan, capital of Isfahan province and major city of western Iran. Isfahan situated on the north bank of the Zāyandeh River at an elevation of about 5,200 feet (1,600 metres), roughly 210 miles (340 km) south of the capital city of Tehran. Isfahan rich history and cultural heritage make it an attractive tourist destination.  Libraries include the municipal library and the library associated with Isfahan University. A museum affiliated with the Vank Cathedral features paintings, church vestments, and ancient manuscripts and includes a library. Isfahan is the third biggest city of Iran.

Many visitors believe Isfahan is the most beautiful city in Iran. It features numerous tree-lined boulevards and flower gardens, miles of beautiful parks along the Zayandeh  river; 1300 year-old covered bazaars, bridges, palaces, mosques, and minarets. This led to the Persian proverb “Esfahān nesf-e- jahān ast” (Isfahan is half of the world).

In addition to its historical roots, Isfahan is also one of the major educational, cultural, industrial and agricultural centers of Iran. Isfahan’s Imam Square, also known as the Naghsh-e Jahan (meaning portrait of the world) Square, is one of the largest city squares in the world and an outstanding example of Iranian and Islamic architecture.

Climate

Isfahan has a seasonal climate. It remains hot during the summer with maximum temperature typically around 35 °C (95 °F). However, with low humidity and moderate temperatures at night, the climate can be very pleasant. During the winter, days are mild while nights can be very cold. Snow has occurred at least once every winter.
