There are some basic requirements to get yourself enrolled in a flying Club. Every flying club strictly follows CAA guidelines to enroll a student. Below are few of those and detailed requirements can be found on respective flying club’s website.

Medical fitness test is done to ensure that your physical and physiological health allows you to fly a plane. The test is conducted by authorized aviation medical examiner. The medical fitness requirements are designed by Civil Aviation Authority. Below are few of the tests conducted to ensure your medical fitness:

  2. Eye test
  3. Hearing test
  4. Stress ECG

HSSC (A level) (F.Sc.)

Once you fulfill these basic requirements, you then get admission in a flying school and go through a written examination before you can sit on pilot’s seat and start the training.At first, Flying club will get you a Student Pilot License (SPL) during the course of training.

  • Flight training Courses:

It’s the first step in aviation career as per PCAA (Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority).

Age: Applicant shall not be less than 17 years of age

Medical: Class-II Medical Certificate or higher (Class-I)

Language Qualification: An applicant shall be capable of speaking, reading and understanding the English language.

Educational Qualification: An applicant shall hold a minimum educational qualification Secondary School Certificate or equivalent.

Security Clearance: Applicants will get security clearance from their local police stations, Special Branch and IB. SPL may be issued on receipt of any one of the clearances.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR THE ISSUANCE OF STUDENT PILOT LICENSE:

  • Attested copy of Matric Certificate or “0” level certificate & other educational documents whichever the candidate holds, Birth Certificate.
  • Attested copy of National Id. Card or Form B of Registration and copy of NIC of Guardian
  • Colored photos (Passport Size) 07 in number (Head uncovered)
  • Colored photos (1″ x 1″ size) 05 (Head uncovered)

PPL (Private Pilot license):

It’s the second step in aviation career as per PCAA (Pakistan Civil Aviation) rules. Requirements are as follows:

Age: Applicant shall not be less than 17 years of age.

Medical: Class-II Medical Certificate or higher (Class-I).

CAA License Held: Student Pilot License.

Pilot Integrated Course: Private Pilot License Integrated Course shall be of 8 months duration, from the commencement of training (i.e. date of issue of SPL) and shall comprise a minimum of 40 hours in accordance with the prescribed Syllabus.

Validity: 24 months subject to the validity of Medical.

Technical Subjects:

PPL – SYLLABUS: Air Law, ATC, and Operational Procedure, Aircraft General Knowledge and Principles of Flight, Human Performance and Limitations, Performance, Meteorology and Flight Planning, VFR communication and Instrumentation, Mass and Balance and General Navigation, English Proficiency, FRTOL.

Passing Marks: 70%.

CPL (Commercial Pilot License):

It’s the third step in aviation career as per PCAA (Pakistan Civil Aviation) rules. Requirements are as follows:

Age: Applicant shall not be less than 18 years of age.

Medical: Class-I Medical Certificate.

CAA License Held: Private Pilot License.

Pilot Integrated Course: Private Pilot License Integrated Course shall be of 10 months duration, and shall comprise a minimum of 110 hours in accordance with the prescribed Syllabus.

Pilot Modular Course: Commercial Pilot License Modular Course shall comprise of a minimum of 150 hours in accordance with the prescribed course.

Validity: 12 months subject to the validity of Medical.

CPL Syllabus: Air Law, ATC, and Operational Procedures, Aircraft General Knowledge and Principles of Flight, Human Performance and Limitations, Performance, Meteorology and Flight Planning, VFR communication and IFR Communication, Mass and Balance and General Navigation.

Passing Marks: 70% for each paper.

SPL (Student Private License) FAQ's

If you are interested in flying aircraft, you must apply for (and possess) an SPL. It is a prerequisite for flying and flying training. It is after obtaining an SPL that candidates can move forward to advanced licenses like the PPL, CPL and ATPL.No flying training is required to obtain SPL.

Student Pilot License (SPL) This is an examination conducted by most flying clubs. It covers papers in Aviation Meteorology, Air Regulations, Air Navigation Air Technical. It is a theory exam. Eligibility: Your age must be at least 16 years old and have passed Class 10th.

Unless you have an instrument rating to go along with your PPL (private pilot’s license), you will be restricted to flying in good weather only.It’s probably only worth it if you really just enjoy flying for its own sake, rather than as a money or time-saving practicality.

A commercial pilot licence (CPL), is a type of pilot licence that permits the holder to act as a pilot of an aircraft and be paid for his/her work. The basic requirements to obtain the license and the privileges it confers are agreed internationally by International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

CPL is a Commercial Pilots License, and allows you to act as Pilot in Command of a charter or corporate flight. ATPL (or ATP Certificate) is an Airline Transport Pilots License and is the highest level of pilot certification.

Valid Pakistani Student Pilot License (SPL)

Educational Qualification of at least Higher Secondary School Certificate or Equivalent.

FRTOL endorsed on the SPL.

Minimum 18 Years of Age.

Valid Medical Certificate (At least Class 1) by CAMB.

Step 1: Get admitted in a flying club.

Step 2: Start flying.

Step 3: Give an oral exam administered by the Chief Flying Instructor for a Student Pilots License and an FRTOL (A document required to fly solo)

Step 4: Apply for Class 2 medicals with a registered DGCA doctor prior to issue of the SPL and FRTOL.

(Commercial Pilot Licence) The CPL is a basic requirement to be allowed to fly for financial reward.You need a minimum of 150 hours of flight time to get this far, flying aircraft with retractable undercarriage and variable-pitch propellers.

It is definitely not too late for you to become an airline pilot or to fly in any professional capacity at the age of 31. With the exception of the military, practically any pilot career field is open to you. You just need to get started!

A candidate should have scored a minimum aggregate of 50% marks to become eligible for CPL. The minimum age limit for CPL is 17 years, and the maximum age limit is 60 to 65 years.

The best you can hope for is to get some of your flights paid for if you do a lease back to a charter/management company. If you just own a private jet there is no way possible (although some people will insist you can through write offs and depreciation) to make money off of it, legally anyway.
