Established in 1961, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the the urban setting of the metropolis of Tehran (population range of over 5,000,000 inhabitants). Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (SBMU) is a large (enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution formally affiliated with the Islamic religion.

Officially accredited/recognized by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, Iran. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment. This 57 years old H.E. institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations.

(SBMU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study.

SBMU also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, sport facilities and/or activities, as well as administrative services.

About City:

Tehran is the capital of Iran and Tehran Province. With a population of around 9 million in the city and 16 million in the wider metropolitan area, Tehran is the most populous city in Iran and Western Asia, and the second-largest metropolitan area in the Middle East. Tehran has a hot, arid climate shared by many parts of central Iran.The annual average temperature in Tehrān is 63 °F (17 °C), with an average annual high of 73 °F (23 °C) and annual lows averaging about 53 °F (12 °C). Extreme temperatures can reach a maximum of 109 °F (43 °C) in the summer and a minimum of 5 °F (−15 °C) in the winter.
