Precautions for PAKISTAN students studying MBBS in China:
Choose only A-level universities
However tempting it may be, you should never choose a medical university based on tuition fees alone. The Chinese Education Department classifies universities based on the quality of their education. Therefore, lower-ranked universities charge a small tuition fee to attract foreign students.
Never choose a bilingual course
You should also be wary of educational consultants who promise to enroll you on an English language course for a small fee. Do not fall into this trap. There are 3 types of MBBS in China – Chinese, bilingual and English. As a non-Chinese student, you cannot, of course, enroll in a Chinese language medical course. You can enroll in either bilingual or fully English courses. As the name suggests, a fully English course would be ideal for you as all course materials will be in English and communication with the lecturers will also be in English.
Chinese universities often employ teachers from English-speaking countries to cater only for foreign students enrolled on a full English course. However, in a “bilingual” course, part of the teaching is in English and the rest in Chinese. Also, the teachers of the bilingual courses are not very good in English, so you will find it difficult to communicate with the teachers if you are enrolled in a bilingual MBBS course. However, the fees for a bilingual course are lower than for a full English course. Therefore, some unscrupulous consultants offer such bilingual courses to students, promising low fees.
Standardized entrance examination for MBBS in China
There is a standardized entrance exam to apply for MBBS in China. It was created so that universities have a standard basis against which to judge candidates for MBBS in China. The format of the test is as follows.
- Each section is based on basic knowledge of medical subjects.
- The four sections are biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics.
- All sections have 50 questions of 100 points each, except the mathematics section which has 25 questions of 50 points each.
- The candidate must take the standardized test if he/she wishes to study MBBS in China.
University Grade for MBBS in China
One of the best things about studying MBBS in China is that many universities are approved by the PMC. Universities for MBBS in China are graded by the WHO and their grades are A+, A, B+, B, B, C+, and C. The fee for each university grade varies and usually, the cost decreases as the grade decreases. The cost of MBBS in China will be low if you choose a B-class university compared to an A-class university. But be careful as you should only study MBBS in China at A-class universities. They have a proper English curriculum and teachers who are fluent in English. If you choose a C-class university with an English language program, you may have to get a teacher who is poor in English and, although the tuition fees are low, you may have problems with the learning environment.
